Trauma Exists on a Spectrum
Trauma can include:
- Major life-changing events: abuse, loss, accident, assault
- Chronic experiences: neglect, emotional invalidation, unsafe environments
- Unmet emotional needs: never feeling truly safe, supported, or loved
- Experiences that weren't processed: painful events that left you confused or alone
How Trauma Impacts Us
When we experience trauma, our mind and body find ways to survive it. Often, secondary beliefs develop like "I am bad," "It was my fault," "I'm not safe," or "I'm not enough." These are protective responses, not truths about who you are.
