Frequently Asked Questions

Is the first session really free?

Yes. Your initial assessment session is completely free of charge. This gives us both an opportunity to see if we're a good fit before you commit to ongoing therapy.

How long are therapy sessions?

Regular counselling sessions are typically 50 minutes, held weekly where possible. Fortnightly sessions can sometimes be arranged depending on availability.

How much does counselling cost?

Sessions are £60 per session following your free initial consultation. I offer concessions for low income, keyworkers, OAPs, students, trainee counsellors, unemployed, and refugees—please ask during your first session.

Do you offer online sessions?

Yes, I offer face-to-face sessions at my private counselling facility in St. Mary Hoo, Rochester, online sessions via Zoom, and Walk and Talk therapy along the country lanes of St. Mary Hoo (appropriate footwear recommended).

Is everything confidential?

Yes, everything you share is completely confidential with only a few legal exceptions (serious risk of harm to yourself or others, or serious crime). I do not share information with family, friends, or anyone outside our therapeutic relationship.

What if I don't feel we're a good fit?

That's completely okay. The first session is an opportunity for you to assess me as much as for me to understand what you need. If you feel we're not a match, I can help you find a more suitable therapist.

Do you work with crisis situations?

I support people experiencing emotional crisis including suicidal thoughts, with great care and non-judgement. However, if you are in immediate danger, please contact emergency services or a crisis line. I am not a crisis service and cannot provide emergency support outside of sessions.

How do I cancel or reschedule?

Please give as much notice as possible if you need to reschedule. Cancellations made 24 hours in advance are no charge. Short notice cancellations may incur a fee.
