Depression & Low Mood
Gentle, steady support for the days that feel heavy.
Depression & Low Mood
Depression can feel different from person to person—for some, it's a heavy flatness that drains the colour from everyday life; for others, it arrives as postnatal depression after a baby's birth, or it shifts with the seasons. Whatever shape it takes for you, depression is not a character flaw or a failure to cope. It's something that happens to people, often for good reason, and it can be worked with.
What Depression Can Look Like
Low mood shows up differently for everyone, and it doesn't always look like sadness. It might include:
- Feeling flat, numb, or disconnected from things you used to enjoy
- Postnatal depression—struggling to feel like yourself after having a baby
- Seasonal affective disorder (SAD)—low mood that follows the darker months
- Exhaustion that sleep doesn't seem to touch
- A persistent sense that you're letting people down, or that things won't get better
Where It Comes From
Depression rarely arrives out of nowhere. It often develops as a response to prolonged stress, unprocessed grief or loss, big life changes, or simply carrying too much for too long without enough support. Sometimes it's your mind and body's way of asking you to stop and be cared for.
How We Work Together
There's no pressure to arrive with the right words, or to have it all figured out. We go at your pace, and we work to:
- Understand what your depression might be responding to
- Gently challenge the harsh, critical thoughts that often accompany low mood
- Rebuild small points of connection—to yourself, to others, to what matters to you
- Find sustainable ways forward that don't rely on willpower alone
